Thrillist Washington DCBi-coastal relations have always been defined by bloody LA/NY scraps, like Biggie vs Tupac, or the Sex and the City girls totally not getting why Californians become vegetarians. Somebody get a Glock and let's waste all those motherf***ers! Promoting kinder, gentler bi-coastalism, the Commonwealth x Maiden Noir capsule collection.
Just dropped, this extremely limited run of sleek and intricately detailed jackets, button-ups and hats represents a collaboration between DC's own streetwear lords and the vaunted Washington State outfit whose motto is "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" -- the most cryptic message coming out of Seattle since anything Adam West said. The tiny but purposeful collection is centered around jackets like the dark-navy, only vaguely militaristic Officer, with four large flap pockets and adjustable back straps, and the lighter, grey, snap-button front, tightly woven Japanese cotton twill Coach, in which you will look crazy like a Hayden Fox. Shirting's provided by the "Lancaster" -- a heavy, 100% cotton white/grey/black button-up with an offset, diagonally patterned breast pocket -- while dome-warmth comes courtesy of a wool/cashmere black or grey beanie with a ribbed, rolled cuff and a prominent, co-branded leather label that's been laser-etched, presumably by frickin' redundant sharks downsized by Virtucon and forced to try their hand at the garment business.
The collection's prize is the heavier, grey, check-plaid-lined "Mayfield" jacket, the purchase of which secures a comp'd bright purple garment bag, perfect for carrying around on sexy urban adventures as you learn (the hard way!) that in life, we do things. Some we wish we had never done, some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads, but they all make us who we are. And that's why you never get high on your own supply.
