Café 57 and Grille

People do stuff with their parents to grow closer, or to forget that they have no friends. Zero. Like, none. Channeling that loneliness into delicious food, Café 57 and Grille, open now.

An inaugural endeavor from a local Greek mother-daughter duo, C57 is an eight-table, Mediterranean-inspired neighborhood cafe grilling up breakfast, sammies, paninis, and bakery grub (all made from locally sourced ingredients and stone hearth baked breads) in a many-windowed 20-seat space with yellow walls/red accents, dark hardwood floors, marble countertops, and a living-room-esque corner replete w/ two red leather chairs and a small, vase-adorned ottoman, which you wish you owned, since it'd be an absolutely perfect addition to your ottoman empire. Meaty sammies include the Steak Delight (grilled steak sauteed with peppers/onions/mushrooms and smothered w/ melted Swiss); a honey mustard-drenched sweet chicken salad mixed with mayo/dried cranberries/lettuce and stuffed into a whole wheat wrap; and an olive oil/balsamic vinegar-drizzled French baguette piled with salami/mortadella/prosciutto and topped w/ provolone, onions, and pepperoccni peppers known as the District 14 -- also the technical name for the city-block-sized gut it creates. C57 also cooks up a pesto-covered chicken panini topped w/ tomato and mozzarella on ciabatta; the 57 Grill Plate (combo platter of chicken breast, steak tips and a pork skewer served w/ salad and fries); and salads like the goat cheese topped fields greens, almond, apple, dried cranberry Craisin Haven, which isn't really accurate, seeing how you're just gonna grind it up and turn it into poop.

For breakfast, you can either stick w/ a greasy egg and bacon/sausage-stuffed sammie or go, gross!, healthy, with honey-dripped Greek yogurt, a create-your-own omelette plate, or the hard boiled egg, cheese, bagel, and fruit combo'd 57 Perfect Start, which is the age mom says is the perfect time to start making new friends.
