The Rest: Lucky Number Slevin Premier
Tue Mar 21, 7:30pm; Ziegfeld Theater: 141 W 54th St, at 7th
This morning, we mugged a guy with tickets to the red-carpet premier of Lucky Number Slevin, starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Josh Hartnett, Lucy Liu, and the luscious Ben Kingsley. Be among the first 10 to email us the duet Bruce and Danny Aiello sang while thieving in Hudson Hawk, and you can rub shoulders with the entire cast. Or just pelt Hartnett with Milk Duds.
Wine: Wine Week
Mar 20-24, 2006
SmithandWollensky.com
As far as marketing gimmick holidays go, "Wine Week" gives Valentine's a run for the money: order an entree at any of S&W's five restaurants, and $10 extra gets you samples of ten different wines. The hitch: the deal's only available at lunch, hours after you typically start drinking.
Beer: Cafe D'Alsace
1695 2nd Ave, at 88th; 212.722.5133
If you're not a wine guy, hit the brand new Cafe D'Alsace, probably the only place in New York with a beer sommelier. The 60-seat bistro will serve 120 international brews -- if you can't find something you like, you're not a beer guy either.
The Rest: Architecture Duel II
Tue Mar 21, 8pm; register at LVHRD.com for $11
The brash two-man firm Grzywinski Pons (The Hotel on Rivington) takes on industry giant Arquitectonica in this T-square showdown. The teams receive a surprise challenge, then separate to their side of a divided stage to frantically sketch and construct their model. Register and the organizers will text you Tuesday with the exact Tribeca location. Rheingolds are $5 -- not cheap, but architects gotta eat.
Drinking: NCAA Tourney Bars
Everyone knows the mainstays for the NCAA Tournament, so here are three more options:
Ship of Fools: 1590 2nd Ave, between 82nd and 83rd
If you're into white, heavily tattooed man-mountains, then catch West Virginia center/folk-hero Kevin Pittsnogle at this WVU hang.
The Penn Club: 30 W 44th St, between 5th and 6th
Tonight's 9:40 game against Texas might be Penn's last. Their alums'll handle defeat with dignity, $3 Yuenglings, and lively discussions of duplexes vs. triplexes.
Tracey J's: 106 E 19th St, between Park and Irving
Owned by Duke legend Art Heyman, it's perfect if you hate the Blue Devils and want to see a proud man cry when they lose.
