Running Down the Best of the Rest
Drinking: Chevy's Battery Park City
Chevy's Cinco de Mayo should be stupidly great: huge margaritas, half-naked girls doling out free beer/shots, and sloshed bankers getting dissed by half-naked girls. To accommodate everyone, this already gargantuan restaurant's opening their 80-seat patio and annexing the adjoining Embassy Suites atrium -- around 800 seats altogether. To secure the best spot, grab a table at 11am: there's free Wi-Fi, so you can "work from home" -- until your boss looks out his window, spots you napping beneath a sombrero, and emails you a termination notice.
Culture: Offshore/On Board: Surf Art Reconsidered
This show's raucous opening night showcases surfer-produced art so inspiring, it'll make you want to quit your job to drink, smoke weed, have beach sex, and talk about surfing. Live music's provided by "samba rockers" Bastards of Boom, and supported by gratis beer and Caipirinhas -- the drink combo that helped Boom father all those Bastards.
The Rest: Shadetree New York Presents Jesse Harris
Shadetree's antidote to acoustic shows in noisy bars: hosting casual performances in neighborhood theaters. For their first event, they've snared Grammy winner/past Willie Nelson songwriter Jesse Harris. Whether or not there's a 2nd show hinges largely on you attending this one.

Gorging: Lure Fishbar
Lure's plush maritime décor made you feel like you were downing oysters inside a yacht -- 'til January, when the place was torpedoed by smoke and water damage from a fire. When this Balthazar of the Sea reopens tonight, there'll be a full sushi bar, and a new front lounge suspiciously reminiscent of an old school smoking section -- irony Lure's owners would probably rather not be informed of.
The Rest: Slightly Known People
This sketch comedy group's actually sponsored by two liquor companies. To increase brand awareness, they treat audience members to shots of bourbon and tequila, usually handed out during their closing musical number, the all too aptly-titled "We Like to Drink".
