The List

Running Down the Best of the Rest

Drinking: Oskar Blues Beer
Available at (among others):
New Beer Distrib: 167 Christie St, between Rivington and Delancey
Whole Foods (7th Ave and Union Sq locations)

Now available in NYC: brew from Colorado brewpub Oskar Blues, whose "Dale's Pale Ale" was rated the best pale in America by Joe Six Pack's favorite publication, the New York Times. Also available: the chocolaty Scottish ale "Old Chub" -- the name Sean Connery gave his chocolaty Scottish man-stick.

Steakhouse Update: Staghorn Steakhouse
315 W 36th, between 8th and 9th; 212.239.0923; See the menu
Staghorn -- so named because the owner finds it "very macho" -- just had one of the quietest steakhouse openings of all time. Manly offerings include the Extra Thick Veal Chop, Aged Kansas City Bone-in Sirloin, Aged Prime Porterhouse for Four, and Extra Thick Canadian Bacon. Not manly? Being in the Garment District.

The Rest: Hollywood Handguns
Call Manhattan Shooting Excursions immediately: 212.749.2530
Meet buses Sat June 24, 10am
Columbia Univ. Main Gate: 116th St and Broadway
$255 at EliteShooters.com

At tomorrow's all-day shooting spree, registrants will fire off rounds from at least eight cinematic hand-cannons, including the Beretta 92 (Die Hard), the Walther P90 (Bond's upgrade from the PPK), and the Heckler & Koch USP (24). Additionally, several of the billion weapons used in Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be available -- but only if you're interested in shooting a chick's gun.

The Rest Mermaid Parade
Sat June 24, 2pm; Coney Island, Brooklyn; See the parade route
The annual MP, which commemorates Coney's "forgotten Mardi Gras" (last held in 1954), is famed for its floats, carnival sideshow atmosphere, and topless participants -- freedom-loving ladies you'll either wish would march into your undersea grotto, or put their shirts back on immediately.
