The List

Reclaim the Week

Drinking: Gramercy Park Hotel
Jade Bar: 12pm-4am; Rose Bar: 4pm-4am
2 Lexington Ave, between 21st and 22nd; 212.920.3300
GramercyParkHotel.com

The Gramercy's Schragerization is nearly complete: the restaurant and rooftop won't be ready 'til fall, but the lobby bars are open. Both are stocked with works by Warhol, Basquiat, etc, and strive for the "haute bohemian" sophistication you'd find in a New York artist's home -- funny, considering Basquiat supposedly lived in a haute bohemian cardboard box.

Drinking: Beer Tasting at Truman's Gentlemen's Groomers
Tue Aug 15, 6:30-8:30pm
120 E 56th St, between Lexington and Park; 212.759.5015
RSVP at Trumans-NYC.com

Since nothing goes with straight razors like alcohol, Truman's barbershop/spa is hosting a Sixpoint Craft Ales tasting, free of charge. Guests get a tour of the man-friendly facility, a dome appraisal, and a $25 gift certificate for services ranging from a haircut to the kind of waxing that requires much stronger stuff than beer to endure.

Gorging: Little Veselka
75 E 1st St, at Houston; Veselka.com
See the menu (desserts not listed)

It took 52 years, but Veselka's finally branched out: Little Veselka, now serving blintzes, desserts, coffee, pierogi, and sandwiches named after famous Ukrainians, e.g.: Milla Jovovich, Leon Trotsky, and of course Viktor Pinchuk ("2nd Richest Man in Ukraine"). At this rate, Veselka will surely overtake Starbucks, shortly before the sun flames out.

Gorging: Honey
243 W 14th St, between 7th and 8th; 212.620.0077
It's dubiously named, but you can't question this just-opened bar/restaurant/lounge's menu. Prime offerings include the surf & turf trumping "Land Air & Sea" (Kobe beef, duck confit and scallops), and a spicy, cheddar-saturated Tex-Mex fondue -- delicious, plus nothing impresses a table of near-Meatpacking District ladies like sending over a bowl of molten cheese.

Frightening: Doyle Dominates
On August 5th, Paddy Doyle set a fitness record for the ages. Thrillist was there, and we still can't sleep.
