The List

Hump This

Gear: Stuart & Wright Sale
Now 'til the stock's sold out
85 Lafayette Ave, between S Portland and S Elliot; 718.797.0011

Despite our warming globe, you'll eventually need toastier clothes, and this Brooklyn stalwart's knocking 25-40% off its entire winter collection: pants, shirts, jackets, scarves, etc, from indie designers like A.P.C., Engineered Garments, and Earnest Sewn. If you're convinced winter's dead forever, then enjoy February, and your new nickname, Nipples.

Drinking: Clothes for Cocktails Benefit
8-11pm Thu at Marquee: 289 10th Ave, between 26th and 27th
RSVP to Events@safehorizon.org

Trade in your "gently worn" winter gear for booze at this charity event benefiting needy kids. Just one article of warm clothing gets you three hours of open bar -- a bagful enters you into a raffle for your very own orphan.

Services: Free Mixed Martial Arts Class
1-2:30pm Sat at the Renzo Gracie Academy
224 W 30th St, between 7th and 8th; to RSVP, 212.356.4012

To celebrate National Self-Defense Month (apparently already underway), International Fight League star Renzo Gracie will be teaching a free 90-minute mixed martial arts class at his gym. If you're too feeble for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, January's also "National Hot Tea Month" -- maybe you can sip a cup with the one non-deadly Gracie, Mildred.

Food: Fireside
In the Omni Berkshire: 19 E 52nd, at Madison; 212.754.5011
Officially opening tomorrow, Fireside's named for its massive glass-enclosed fireplace -- which for permit reasons currently burns only candles. While the décor's municipally handicapped, the menu's unconstrained, with notables like BBQ Pork Osso Bucco w/ creamy cheese grits, and the staggering Crepe Royale: Nantucket Bay scallops, sweet potato-chorizo hash, caviar, lobster hollandaise, and quail egg. After eating this, light a candle for your waistline. Check out the menu

Services: Traffic Cam Mania
NYCTMC.org
Whether you're reconnoitering an optimal cab route, or just very bored, this site's video and still shots from 45 NYC traffic cams should keep you enjoyably occupied. Also works for intra-office games of Punch Buggy/Slug Bug.
