You already know about the Dodgers' all-you-can-eat-seats, so for this weekend's series against the Angels, pre-game at area bars to round out the boozy part of the equation.
Taix: 1911 W Sunset Blvd; 213.484.1265
When to go: Game day, until 1st pitch
This semi-famous French restaurant opened in 1962, and most of its clientele looks like they haven't eaten elsewhere since. Nevertheless, game day means $2 pints of Taix's house pale ale and tiny carafes of free nuts until the fat lady sings the National Anthem (which the man next to you helped write).
Gold Room: 1558 W Sunset Blvd; 213.482.5259
When to go: Any time on game day
Although the sign outside boasts $1.50 Pabst and free munchies during home games, it doesn't mention the Chicana St. Paulie Girl slinging drinks in her dazzling red push-up bra. Two more key omissions? The game special runs all day, and the permanent special (dollar house tequila shots w/ any brew) puts you at risk of relinquishing your munchies on the sidewalk.
Barragans: 1538 W Sunset Blvd; 213.250.4256
When to go: 3:30-7:30pm before Fri's game
Hit Barragans for $6.50 Bud Light pitchers and $5 margaritas -- hangover inducing deals they'll gladly neutralize the next day with their best-in-city $4.49 breakfast -- a price that makes your cut-rate drinking seem exorbitantly expensive by comparison.
Little Joy: 1477 W Sunset Blvd; 213.250.3417
When to go: 6-9pm, everyday
Enjoy divey, CBGB-bathroom-style decor, $2 Pabst, $3 well drinks, wide-open pool tables, and a chance to contract tetanus!
The Shortstop: 1455 W Sunset Blvd; 213.482.4942
When to go: 2hrs before any game, until 1st pitch
Quaff $1.50 PBRs and $4 drafts/well drinks at this cop bar turned hipster hang (a transformation that oddly did nothing to change the pervasiveness of mustaches).
El Compadre: 1449 W Sunset Blvd; 213.250.4505
When to go: 4-7pm before Fri's game
Famous for Mariachi and flaming margaritas, this Mexican joint's workingman's happy hour means $3 beers and $5 margs -- drink yours before extinguishing it and the only people whose hour'll be happy are those lucky enough to escape the choking stench of burning hair.
