When selecting a date spot, the ideal's a restaurant that's just pretty enough to set an atmosphere of breezy flirtation, but not so pretty that you can't keep your food down. So, select The Kingswood.
From the guys behind Aussie bistro Ruby's, Kingswood provides intimacy without cloying lovematicism*: 40 seats, a full bar, wood-plank floors, ivy-frilled windows, and one stuffed peacock (because nothing says romance like exotic taxidermy). Whereas the extensiveness of many menus can result in chattus interruptus, all-in, KW's features 11 items -- making for a snap decision, and a quick return to your US Weekly-inspired "Who Wore it Better: Sienna Miller or Zac Efron?" debate. There're plenty of diet-friendly fish options (like halibut w/ sauteed squid couscous), but meat's heavily represented, e.g., prosciutto papadelli, herb-crusted rack of lamb, and the Bronte Burger (available with Wuthering Fried Onions).
The restaurant opens quietly this weekend, but they're not taking reservations 'til next week -- a sly "no means maybe" policy that should in no way influence your own behavior, as there's nothing pretty about being maced.
