Lost Taco

Throughout history, men's obsessions have driven them to arduous quests, from Ponce de Leon searching for the Fountain of Youth, to Ashton Kutcher and Sean William Scott searching for the Fountain of Paycheck. Now embarking on the most serious quest of all: LostTaco.com.

LT's a spanking-new, carefully-observed blog from an LA emigre doggedly "searching for a decent taco in NYC", a quest nearly as frustrating as "searching for real boob in LA", and just as likely to make you have to go into the bathroom to cool off. Some early contenders:

Thrillist - LostTaco.comTia Julia: Two Stars
"Finding a good taco truck, one that you trust, isn't unlike being in a relationship. There's the discovery, the passion, the long summer nights wiled away in loving embrace, and of course, inevitably, the moment when they take off the emergency brake and drive away" (there's a reason mistake rhymes with bistec -- think about it).

Thrillist - LostTaco.comTaqueria el Paisa: Three Stars
Paper-plating up hot tortillas w/ good pineapple/onion/cilantro ingredients, this hole-in-the-wall's "literally five blocks from the subway" where there's "a conspicuous lack of coffee shops and tiny restaurants serving 'creative' American food" -- a neighborhood description that moves intrepid foodies to delight, and rental brokers to brilliant lies.

This two-tabled Bushwick eatery serves tacos heavy on the sour cream but with "a conscpicuous dearth of cilantro and onion". What do you expect, Cali? Vegetables don't just pop up out of the ground.

LT's concentrated in Brooklyn and Queens for now, but soon'll branch out to Manhattan, thus abetting your own obsessive quest: never visiting another borough.
