Vintage bikes get new life in Aspen

It's extremely tough to look cool while biking, what with the spandex, the helmet, and the being Floyd Landis. At least now the bike itself can look badass, with Re-Cycle Art Aspen.

A new-to-the-scene online shop/Aspen Farmer's Market outlet, Cycle's a one man pedal-pushing operation crafting two-wheeled treasures from rare vintage bikes which've been lovingly taken apart/cleaned/messed with, all run by a guy whose previous job was building Victorian homes in DC, before stumbling on a field where his drafting was actually admired.

Currently-made sweetness includes:

A rare Italian OLMO Time Trial orange funny bike with a lugged steel frame, a Campagnolo Record 42t vintage crankset, Ourey orange grips, and a Velo Orange Moderniste bottle cage, which questions the very notion that a water bottle can be caged. A 1972 Fuji called the "Get Out and Vote Finest", with a chrome-plated frame and Obama spoke-cards, but not cards Obama spoke from -- dude doesn't even use a teleprompter! Change! A surprisingly non-German Volkscycle Mark XX with Michelin Dynamic 700c x 32 tires, a Bridgestone frame painted in "Bomber Orange Sparkle", and silver Origin8 Urban Riser handlebars, which prove even the mustache'd can make a better life for themselves if they stay in school.

In addition to his ready-made stable, Cycle's also more than happy to restore/transform your vintage bike (for a cool three-hundo) by disassembling/greasing/buffing/etc to make it good as new, just like Landis' rep. Right? He said he was sorry.
