Designed via a collaborative effort between ATL's own Jermaine Dupri and 4th-generation Swiss watch maven Pascal Mouawad, Pop's a new line of "pop art"-inspired watches with unique colors, patterns, and operational details starting under $100, created in part because JD grew up "admiring Andy Warhol", although that was mainly because he really loves soup. The main collection's comprised of two models, starting with a squared-off, rubber-strapped affair in a variety of colorways (white, brown, red, blue, yellow) with a translucent plastic bezel, a small digital readout in the upper right, and a secondhand dial at bottom left named the D2 -- when it's time to change the batteries, just call, and Emilio Estevez'll be there. The other initial model's the CrazyPop, whose unique face gets an assorted display of funkily scattered numbers which light up in blue to show the hour, and red for minutes; press the mode button twice and it'll tell you the date using a similar color code, or if you're colorblind, suggest there're dozens of months after December.
There're also limited quantities of chronometers that'll be released en masse in 2010, like a rubber-banded model with a small LED display that JD expects to come in 100+ colors, and the round-faced, Swarovski crystal-bezeled Dial series, for which Dupri clearly sought help from one of the oldest pros of them all: scented antibacterial deodorant soap.
