Thrillist AtlantaSome folks can't help going the extra mile to prove their love for their dogs, from putting them in luxury pet spas while they're on vacation, to giving them the finest European chocolate when they come back. Honoring (one) man's best friend with a restaurant, Lucky's Burger & Brew.
An industrial-styled diner with a focused food menu of burgers & sammies, Lucky's is decked with a vivid mustard yellow/maroon color scheme (from the angular shapes on the floor to red vinyl booths) and's named in honor of the owner's beloved golden retriever "Lucky #2" (apparently #1 wasn't). Start with apps like fried pimento cheese bites w/ spicy pepper jelly or tempura artichoke hearts w/ ginger sesame aioli, then get into the "Stimulus Plan" (six golden-fried wings & a PBR), or one of 10 Challah-bunned, 7oz beef or turkey burgers like the green chilis/pepper Jack/chipotle mayo/homemade guac "Chihuahua" or the egg/fried onion straws/Applewood smoked bacon/2x American cheese "Undertaker", if you're looking to live Paul E. Dangerously. They've also got a build-your-own burger program w/ 23 toppings, plus sandwiches like the "French Poodle Chicken" (buttermilk-fried bird w/ melted Brie, caramelized onions, Granny Smith apples & dijon) and the Swiss/Applewood hog/Texas Toast "Lou's Smoked Turkey Club", which sounds way more enticing than the Elks version.
Drankwise, there's a robust selection of booze, reds & whites by the glass/bottle, and lots o' suds: eight drafts (Abita IPA, Fat Tire...), cans of South Africa's Carling Black Label and Genesee Cream Ale, and bottles of CO's Skinny Dip, Spaten, or Flying Dog -- something yours won't be, after enjoying a box full of dazzling Ferrero Rocher.
