Bodega's Rockport Collab
Sometimes, rural and urban don't blend well: just look at the simple country mouse, who had huge issues dealing with the city mouse's diet, morally casual lady mice, and awkward living situation vis-a-vis a cat. Plus, his shoes sucked. Fixing at least that, Bodega's Rockport Collab.
Dropping tomorrow in two runs of 50, Back Bay's urban convenience store/kickery has teamed with pastoral gentleman-brand Rockport to create Town & Country, two shoes developed by Bodega's design team, each of which layers their own distinctive street-worthy features on "the classic silhouette" of Rockport's mid-top boat shoe, the Bayshore. First up's the Town, which "re-imagines the buttoned-up character" of a Bostonian mentally steeling for Winter by contrasting the dark blue waterproof premium leather of the toe/body with a melton wool collar lined with an insulating plaid flannel interior, a very similar construction to Todd Palin's short-lived line of Iditarod-friendly profos. If you prefer a mo' bucolic kick, there's the Country with a two-toned waterproof premium brown leather upper and a gusseted tongue, brass-tipped boot laces/eyelets, and a footbed featuring "ultra soft pigskin lining" which'll conform to the contours of your foot, then stage a ballsy communist uprising before turning poor Boxer into glue.
In keeping with the spirit of the collab, they'll also release a small run of gray melton wool Bodega hats, and mystery limited-edition tees sealed inside metal cans that can't be opened without a can opener, two more things that don't blend well: purchasing clothes, and having no concept of what they look like.
