Making the jump between genres isn't always easy -- just look at Lil' Wayne's experiments with rock, or MJ's unreleased collab with 50 Cent, a last ditch effort to get rich or...damn, is it going to be "too soon" forever? Moving from wine bar to tavern, the dude behind Haddingtons.
Run by the chef behind vino-focused Mulberry, this foray into savory & sudsy territory is styled as an American tavern with heavy across-the-pond influences, decked out with houndstooth wallpaper, globe lights built into a snaking metal pipe above the bar, and a dark brick exterior courtesy of Michael Hsu, whose community-focused architecture's summed up by his motto, "Hsu me? Hsu you! Hsu everybody!" Never going half-ass, they're boasting some of West 6th's choicest brews, with rotating casks like Convict Hill Coffee'd Oatmeal Stout, rare local draughts (Jester King's Commercial Suicide, Real Ale's Devil's Share), Brit taps (Old Speckled Hen, Fuller's London Porter), and big bottles like Malheur Biére Brut Reserve -- with an ABV of 11%, it'll have you acting like you're worth Roy Williams' grossly inflated signing bonus. Next-level pub cuisine includes 2/4 person sharing plates including a pork shank or shoulder and a whole branzino, as well as Union-Jacked bites like braised, house-ground British Meatballs (wrapped in caul fat, w/ braised veggies), crispy-crust Lamb Pie (w/ bone marrow, braised cabbage), and Scotch quail eggs pickled and served with sausage -- but not pickled sausage, because that's found on the guy who harvested these quail eggs.
Of course, there will be hard liquor too, with 13 whiskeys (including A.H. Hirsch 16 Yr.) and house cocktails like the Duck Fat Sazerac with Peychaud's bitters, absinthe rinse, and rye infused with duck fat -- considering Goldberg's last role was "Bus Driver" in Drillbit Taylor, fat donation might be the only genre he's fit to cross over into.
