You know that storage room in awesome Uptown Oakland Danger-Doggery Xolo where they kept their fancy sombreros and castanets? Well it's now a 22-stool bar called Fauna.
It's obviously owned by the same crew behind Flora (there's actually a door that connects the two) and looks sorta like the entryway to a hunting lodge -- there're smaller taxidermied animal heads on the walls (gazelles, jackalopes, etc.), regal-looking alternating vertical stripes, and a King Kong poster. Tap-wise they've got five on draft (Racer 5, Boont Ale, and always-classy PBR) plus their own separate-from-Flora cocktail menu with tipples like the Bang-Bang Berlioni (gin, Cynar, Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth) and the Four Roses Bourbon, grapefruit, and coffee honey syrup Dial D for Derby -- perfect for murdering your sobriety.
Oh, and there's delicious bar fare ranging from fried padron and shishito peppers with chile aioli, to chicharrones with chile and lime, to a newly rotating Fauna meat sando, ensuring your dinner never gets olé.
