Everyone knows the land down under is a place where the beer flows and men chunder, but if you're the Aussie behind newly relocated Kangaroo & Kiwi, it's also a place you leave to open a bar in America where the first of those things still happens, and no one knows what the second one means. The 130-seater inside the stately Carnegie building is also where dude pays homage to his homeland with a ton of New Zealand/Australian signage, flatscreens showing Aussie Rules football, soccer, etc., and a profusion of bar games suitable for men at... um, play.
For the first few weeks while they finish the kitchen, K&K's only doing beverages including a range of sunburned country-inspired 'tails like the rum/ginger beer/lemon juice Queensland Iced Tea. But once it's done, they'll be serving Aussie pub fare (Chicken Schnitzel w/ mushroom sauce or gravy, Cooper's beer-battered fish & chips), plus sandwiches like the Back Shed Burger w/ pineapple & grilled onions, and a grilled ham pup called The Toasty made w/ "Oz cheese", which, in this case, hopefully doesn't mean cigarettes.
Rounding out the menu's a list of happy hour snacks (sausage rolls!), weekend brunch offerings, and some handy definitions of Australian slang, like a "Kombi" (VW Bus), and "Chunder" (?!!??!!??).
