Maddy's Taproom -- weirdly, from same people behind Maddy's Bar & Grille in Dupont -- describes its food as "Texican", so, major points for creativity! And also hopefully, you know, good food.

Amidst hanging peppers, reclaimed German pine, whiskey barrels, and wrought iron fans set on a pulley system, said cuisine ditches the burritos and hot plates for comfort like slow-cooked El Paso brisket w/ mesquite potato salad, crock pot chicken criolla, and tomatillo relish-covered Cowboy rib eye, which any Redskins fan would like to destroy on a Sunday. Oh right, and it's a taproom, so there're 40 of those things, with locals (from Flying Dog Pearl Necklace, to Starr Hill Northern Lights) next to out-of-towners like Abita's Andygator Doppelbock, and a British-style IPA from Firestone Walker called Union Jack, too much of which will leave your enthusiasm for everything else flagging.

There're also booze-soaked bar bites like ancho-bourbon-pineapple BBQ pork ribs and chicken taquitos in a guajillo beer sauce, in case you're just popping in for happy hour and don't want to get creative and order anything major.
