Thrillist BostonThe idea that science can be cool has been around since -- wait. Now, thanks to Comme des Garcons.
From a Japanese designer with a French name, this fall collection of graphic button downs, tees, and nylon jackets is heavy on science and large scale photography, incorporating prints from strong nature-inspired imagery, giving you the confidence that comes with knowing stoners will want to watch you when they're high. Artsy button downs include a blue vertical striped cotton oxford w/ a bold translucent color image of a man's weathered bearded face on a brown/blue checkered background; the Patchwork, a pink long sleeve w/ a clever three-pattern front panel that includes nine pink/white/red-striped squares; and a blue/white checked number w/ point collar, breast pocket, and enormous image of an astronaut on a space walk, but not a moon walk, mind you, because that'd be way too soon. Teewise, CDG serves up a grey crewneck silkscreened w/ a blue x-ray image of a frog; a white short sleeve adorned w/ an enormous straight-off-Nat-Geographic image of an older Ushanka-wearing Eurasian man smoking a pipe; and a cotton crewneck featuring a funky red/yellow/black drawing of red blood cells, which you claim to be O negative, even if your therapist is always telling you B positive!
If you don't seek inspiration from pics of dead animals, CDG also offers a padded beige nylon pea coat w/ light buttons and epaulets on the sleeves, and a puffy sectioned multicolored (blue/green/orange) zip up w/elastic sleeve cuffs and dual zip front pockets, because the only thing cooler than science is you, when not dressed in layers.
