Thrillist BostonPatriotism is a perilous line to walk -- act too unsupportive and you're a Commie traitor, but act too overeager to wave the flag and... you're still a Commie traitor, aren't you? Admit it! We know! Subtly waving the flag, Pegleg NYC.
From a twenty-something trio of pals-turned-designers, Pegleg's summer streetwear collection of cotton-heavy tees, tanks, and shorts is a muted homage to patriotic Americana w/ its confused/vertigo-inducing stripes, and matching ensembles that quietly chant "USA" so you may drink French white wines. Lightweight shirts include a crew neck Half Stripes Tee w/ a panel construction of dueling woven vertical and horizontal stripes in dark or light; a red/white cotton Checker Gingham Long Sleeve w/ front breast pocket and seersucker detailing around the collar; and the small-checked, navy/green Black Watch sleeveless Tartan Tank, the war vehicle of choice for surly-but-wise caddies. To cool the legs, PL offers the Patriot Swim Trunk, an all-cotton drawstring number donning red stripes and a blue leg w/ white stars; a light blue seersucker short w/ gingham lining, and embroidered red iconography; and the white cotton oxford Bird Shorts displaying adorable images of tree-perched cardinals, bluejays, and canaries -- satisfying the pesky question of what you'd wear to Ornithology school graduation.
If you're strictly looking to cover your bowl cut, PL's got hats like a 100% straw exterior baseball cap w/ blue striped fabric piping, and the Starburst, which displays a lone star streaking from an American flag -- more than enough to make you sickled pink. Isn't that right, Comrade?
