As siblings grow up, they're often faced with two distinct choices -- either remain locked in the fierce competitive rivalry that marred the best years of their childhood, or team up to douse their father's gold-digging fiance Vicki with a sugar-based "mosquito repellent" and honey, so that bear cubs get in her tent!! Or they can open up a restaurant together, like Jazz Café and Bar.

A first time offering from a brother/sister team (with a friend thrown in, to keep things interesting), JCB is a just opened lunch/dinner resto, bar, and eventual live jazz venue that serves a varied menu of steak, pasta, and Creole dishes in the old NuVo/Gusto's serpentine 90-seat, five-room (plus patio) spot eclectically decorated w/ plush gold velvet curtains, sweet jazz-related prints intertwined w/ random framed pics of various Boston sports stars, high back wood booths/benches, and tables with stone tops, which are infuriatingly difficult to keep spinning. Entrees include a spicy red snapper Creole w/ rice and black beans; an 8oz aged strip New York sirloin accompanied by four baked shrimp and a side of mashed taters; and a mixed conch/shrimp seafood dinner, which you better order if you want to talk. There're also traditional eats like grilled chicken and broccoli sautéed in a Parmesan sauce and tossed w/ ziti; a Cajun spiced-chicken sammie smothered w/ melted cheddar and served w/ onion rings; and a 10-piece plate of crispy fried and honey BBQ soaked Super Buffalo Wings to kick things off, and also bring them to a screeching halt.

Although still awaiting their entertainment license, JCB will eventually feature live jazz performances with in-house video feeds to the other rooms and a dance floor on Fri/Sat nights where for a $10 admission fee, they'll supply free food -- you just buy the drinks, and make sure Vicki stays away from your parents long enough to get the ranch hand dressed up like a gypsy violinist.
