Varvatos for Converse

When improving an iconic product, the trick's generally to update it without going overboard: Cap'n Crunch improved perfection with Crunch Berries, but his one-step-too-far "Oops, All Berries" was nothing more than sheer sugar madness. Going Crunch Berries on Converse once more, John Varvatos.

Malden, MA's darling shoemakers've just dropped their newest collab with menswear designer Varvatos, breathing fresh life into Cons' classics via everything from subtle tweaks to full-on re-thinkings. On the nuanced front, they've got new styles/colorways of the laceless Chuck T and Jack Purcell slips (Moss Green, Fatigue, Pewter, etc), and overhauls on the Purcell Vintage, giving it a brown houndstooth upper, distressed midsole, and haberdasher lining while keeping the "signature smile" on the toe bumper -- thoughtfully ensuring face-kick recipients continue to have a nice day. For more mind-melding options, there's the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey, a way-beefier-than-its-namesake, rugged oiled leather boot with Thinsulate lining in three heights from Lo to Xtra Hi; and the canvas Multi-Eyelet All Star in colors like pewter, navy, and black/grey, all w/ a clear rubber outsole and elastic laces winding through 38 eyelets -- because 40 would just be ridiculous.

Beyond shoe-modding, Johnny V's Cons collab also includes luxe gear like cashmere zip hoodies, thermal longsleeves, even a jersey-lined leather jacket w/ a hood -- the Crunch Berry to the iconic calfskin coat, which'll also soon be updated with marshmallow, when you vainly squeeze into it.
