Artificial Flavor Spring Collection
When updating a classic, taking too many liberties can render it crappily unrecognizable, whether it's Madonna turning "American Pie" into a club anthem, or those jerks who turned "Boyz in the Hood" into a preppy vagina anthem. Treading more artfully, Artificial Flavor's spring line.
Inspired by "time travel" (who's not?), AFlavor's taken decades' worth of casual classics and imbued them with subtle, modern detailing -- just enough to let people know you're not some loser still wearing the same casual classics. Long-sleeve standouts include the ultra-lightweight, parachute-nylon “Storm” rain slicker, contemporized with Velcro/zipper front and hood/sleeve contrast stripes; the super-soft, thermal cotton "Waffle Neck", whose metal shoulder & placard buttons allow it to be worn like a henley, mock turtleneck, or collared shirt; and the snap-collar, thin contrast cuffed “Moto” dress shirt, meant as a riff on history's least exclusive club, Members Only. Short-sleevers include the “Havana” (a guayabera with two stacked, left-chest snap pockets and four strips of contrast fabric in lieu of traditional pleating), and a polo with shoulder button detailing and 100% mesh nylon construction -- so your boss won't even know you're dressed for a lunchtime pickup basketball game, until you return malodorously drenched in sweat.
Fresh stuff for downstairs includes a trio of multi-colored briefs, and 100% French terry sweatpants detailed with tuxedo-pant striping -- hilarious and comfortable, but still sweatpants, so those "Boyz" losers will be the only ones singing vagina anthems tonight.
