Once a product goes national its creators typically never look back, unless the product happens to be rear view mirrors, cause then, it's like, how can they not? Bringing their country-wide success back home, Cafe Twist.
From a Chi couple named Kim & Scott who've already slung their eponymous frozen pretzels to retailers around this great land, CT's a first go at a fresh pretzel temple, realized as a sunny 12-seat cafe decked with black & white photos of the pretzel process, also how people get into a Fiero. Twisted tastiness is avail in a dizzying array of forms, from straight-up pretzellage in flavors like traditional Bavarian and sourdough asiago, to stuffed action that's both savory (grilled cheese, spinach & feta, mozzarella-basil) and sweet, including vanilla cheesecake, chocolate crumb, and cinnamon roll, also how you wrecked that Fiero...in a spice factory. Lunchtime appetites can be sated with sandwiches of ham/Swiss/spicy mustard, roast beef & creamy horseradish, and pepperoni/marinara/mozz, while those just looking for a small snack can dunk tiny knots into dips of basil pesto, cream cheese icing, and Goose Island mustard, which oddly won't fly south on you as fast as that icing.
For washing down purposes they're fully loaded on the coffee/cocoa/cider front, and're also slinging smoothies like triple berry (straw/blue/cran) and chocolate banana, a combination as satisfying as creating rear view mirrors and looking back in them.
