Hozell
It's a cruel irony that golf clothing's so heinous, when a day on the links means hanging with the very guys who'll tease your wearing it most mercilessly (your friends). Limit the humiliation to your game, with Hozell.
Founded by two SoCal guys, Hozell makes greens gear that's equally inspired by golfing, the beach, and "spending time with friends" (at first this sounded stupid to us too, but keep reading). Collared short-sleeve stylings include the fan & deck chair emblazoned "Lounging", the "Animal" (breast reads "Insert Animal Logo Here"), and the aqua, lakehouse-themed "Vacation", constructed with t-shirt material -- for a thin feeling of rebellion, even as you obediently replace your divot. For chillier rounds, Hozell's got long-sleeve collared shirts, lightweight French-terrycloth'd pullovers, and zip-up 50/50 sweatshirts, plus a few tweaks on classic hats: a gray herringbone fedora, and a plaid drivers cap -- essential protection against brutal winds when your cart's pushing 10mph.
Hozell also stitches "inspirational quotes" into each neck label, pulled from the founders' buddies' misadventures. The best: "You're Swayze, right? You're 21, right?", a yarn about bribing the Patrick Swayze into buying beer, then taking him to a beach party -- so if you don't want anyone to tease you about your clothes, just show up rocking Bodhi.
