Bucktown Soup Cafe (now closed)

Just opened by a former attorney who fondly remembers surviving largely on soup during his broke law student days, BSC is a bright, pastel-walled 16-seat cafe keeping it simple with a rotating selection of nine soups (pulled from the owner's 90-strong list), beginning with standards like lobster bisque, fire roasted vegetable, and Michigan mushroom barley. Stay tuned for signature items like a spicy crab with toasted corn, a summer-appropriate gazpacho, and "gumbolaya", an andouille-chicken-shrimp filled Cajun-Creole hybrid that, unlike you, also has mussels.
