Opening Friday, "Athlete" honors legendary sports photographer Walter Iooss, whose images have graced more than 300 Sports Illustrated covers over his 50-year career. Pictures are accompanied by revealing diary entries, covering everything from the time when Iooss was heartbroken to see a crippled Unitas, barely able to pick up a coffee cup, to the time when he was heartbroken to see a crippled Namath, barely able to pick up a bewildered sideline reporter.
