This 1978 Wine Promo Vid Might Be the Most Hilarious Star Wars Rip-Off Ever

People have been capitalizing off Star Wars since Luke first whined about his dumb power converters back in 1977. But the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (by way of io9) has uncovered perhaps the best rip-off in the franchise's lengthy history. This long promotion for Taylor Wines was filmed just a year after New Hope was released, and features droids "Metal Man" and "Shorty." They've arrived to help sell the so-called "Holiday Race for Space." Apparently that involves grooving to the music and cozying up to scantily clad ladies. It also involves looking exactly like C3PO and R2D2. Sadly, there's no Han Uno blasting Greenzo away with a bottle of bubbly, but use your imagination:

Kristin Hunt is a Food/Drink staff writer for Thrillist, and thinks C3PO would be a terrible party guest. Follow her to less-stiff droids at @kristin_hunt.
