You may see the Sbux mermaid more than you see members of your own family, but it turns out Starbucks isn't that big of a deal. According to intel from the previous three months, Folgers remains the most bought coffee brand in America by a jittery mile.
Folgers held an impressive 15.6 percent share of the U.S. market by volume from May to July. Maxwell House was runner-up with 10 percent, trailed by Green Mountain with 4.3 percent, and then Starbucks with a pitiful 3.3 percent. Just to prove it's the undisputed king of java beans, Folgers also nabbed the #1 spot among coffee brands in the 2013 Harris Poll EquiTrends Rankings. That study ranks brands based on familiarity, quality, and purchase consideration. And it's academically vetted, so you best believe it.
We guess we have to hand it to Folgers: If they can convince Americans that the best part of waking up is their coffee and not bacon with the delightful Matt Lauer, they deserve this.
