An Irish pub from Renton moves in on the Lake Union waterfront

The list of sweet things Seattle and Renton have in common includes... ummm... the fact that they're both not Tacoma? And now actually a second thing, because Renton's mainstay Irish pub, A Terrible Beauty, has launched an outpost in the former BluWater space on Lake Union

The bi-level space has two bars downstairs, and a dining room upstairs that, in addition to seats by the fire, offers panoramic views that are much more on the beauty side than the terrible one

The whole place is stuffed with handmade/restored furniture, glass ceiling/wall tiles salvaged from the old McCormick & Schmick's across the lake, plus vintage art/nicknacks found on trips to Ireland, like signs for stuff that isn't actually sold here at all

If you don't own one of those yachts, you probably didn't grow up on Mercer Island, and will likely have to make due hanging out on the patio.

Like this Reuben, the menu is massive and features both traditional Irish fare (shepherd's pie, fish & chips, etc.) and decidedly non-Irish seafood, like bleu cheese crab cakes.

Wash that Reuben down with either a full range of local brews, or classic Irish ones like this Guinness poured correctly with a healthy head, which can't be said about someone who purposefully lives in Tacoma.
