The dream of every San Diegan romantic is to move down to the beach, despite girls' repeated insistence that getting sand up in there is extremely uncomfortable, and they'd rather just keep cuddling and finish She's All That. For a romantic French resto opening up beachside: BO-Beau.

Fronted by French Colonial gates from mid-17th century Egypt and filled with antique farm tools/wine barrels from a Spanish estate, BO's the newest project from the Cohn's & the dude behind Bleu Boheme, who revamped/romanticized Thee Bungalow's L-shaped space with a fireplaced/ pizza-oven'd patio and a French love song scrawled along the walls of the joint, whose name is apparently an ode to a region in Paris, as opposed to a declaration of how hot Bo Jackson looks in baseball and football pants. Because everyone already knows that. The delectable, surprisingly affordable French-inspired/Mediterranean-influenced menu ranges from sharable flatbreads topped with combos like braised short ribs/ horseradish or smashed potatoes/ chives, to daily house-made pasta such as fettuccine with duck confit & roasted mushrooms, to the pork belly/ Gruyere/ green peppercorn aioli/ pomme frites "Burger Royale with cheese", though they warn that any attempt at a Pulp Fiction joke will be met with a swift kick to the family Jules...ouch, that hurt. To keep your palate moist, they're slinging over a hundred vinos by the bottle or "Glass & 1/3", while heavier hitters can waft seasonal craft cocktails like the current gin/ sour/ smashed green grapes "Treaty of Paris", and the absinthe & cognac "Toulouse-Lautrec's Earthquake", which must've registered high on the Dicht-her Scale.

Because you lack Lautrec's natural charm and budget, they've also got racks full of retail wine for taking home: lubrication that ought to mitigate how uncomfortable things are for both of you.
