Having a lot of meat in your life means you either just scored Bull Durham (on Blu-ray!) for Christmas, or you've just stumbled into Maccabees at Midtown, a serious deli piling the stuff between bread, between pancakes, and on your bones.

Owing its name to the Art Deco Maccabees Building, the dining room's artfully wrapped in mahogany wood tones and Merlot-colored booths.

The breakfast menu's stacked with items like steak & eggs, fruit-topped brioche french toast, and ricotta pancakes, but better to focus on pancakes of the potato variety, serving as "bread" in sandwiches like this Midtown: a Thousand Island-soaked corned beef and turkey pastrami combo that's really quite a lat... ke.

No dolphins were harmed in the making of this surf and turf (grilled onion- & swiss-topped tuna and pastrami on double-baked rye).

Or keep it turf-only with this burger piled with onion rings, applewood-smoked bacon, pepper jack & housemade slaw called the "D Burger"; eating too many will keep you from ever being in The Show.
