Returning to the two story woody environs it called home in the 60s (now lined with button-tufted green leather banquettes and paintings by the likes of Basquiat and Warhol), Lion's a classic-NY inspired grubbery plating up fare from the The Waverly Inn's John Delucie, including apps like Spring asparagus w/ slow cooked egg & Burgundy truffle; pastas from braised octopus Annunziata to hand-cut pappardelle w/ rabbit ragout; and mains of lobster pot pie and lamb porterhouse accompanied by natural jus, so Sammy Davis Jr will need to find his own date.
