Super-secret Cronut recipe now yours to make at home. This is not a drill.

Remember Cronuts? One part pastry, one part donut, infinity parts viral marketing sensation, Dominique Ansel's hybrid delights were THE dessert trend of 2013, notching enough spectacular hype & skeptical backlash to be forever immortalized in the annals of Internet-food-celebrity. Your sweet tooth has probably moved on since last year -- to the resurgent donut perhaps, or just another of Ansel's many sacchar-innovations -- but prepare to be pulled back in, 'cause the pastry maverick just released his formerly secret Cronut recipe on national television. Meaning you can make it at home, like, right now.

Widely respected paper towel infomercial Good Morning America got Ansel to give up the ghost on his career-defining creation while he was on the show promoting his new cookbook (obviously, the recipe is also in said book, which is available for preorder now).

Fair warning: the process calls for some not-so-common kitchen equipment (KitchenAid, piping bags, ring cutters...) and a bunch of tricky maneuvers, so it's probably wise to tackle it with a friend who knows his/her way around the kitchen. But if you've got the gumption, you can now eat these flaky flukes in the comfort of your own home, which is just one more reason to never leave it. Godspeed, brave cravers.
