Where to get your Irish on in Detroit this weekend

Detroit St. Patrick's Parade
Detroit St. Patrick's Parade

Detroit Event of the Week
What else could it possibly be besides the 56th Annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade? The procession will start at Michigan Ave and 6th St at 12pm on Sunday, and you’ll have your pick of where to watch/drink from. Two James is throwing their first-ever Ceilidh (Gaelic for "party") and they’ll have beer from Motor City Brewing Works and Atwater to keep you company, along with their own whiskey, gin, and vodka. McShane’s will have Guinness, green beer, corned beef, shepherd’s pie, and more. Nemo’s will be tailgating all day with drink specials, music, and tents. Corktown Tavern will also be hosting its ginormous St. Patrick’s Day tent party sponsored by 94.7 WCSX.

Saturday, March 15th: If you’re going to be sticking around the Michigan Ave strip of Corktown come Sunday or Monday, devote your Saturday revelry to the Old Shillelagh’s St. Practice Day celebration. It's one of the best Irish pubs in America, after all. Live music starts at 2pm.

Corktown Race

Sunday, March 16th: Not to detract from all the glorious Irish booze, but don’t forget about the 32nd Annual Corktown Races. The 5K takes off from Michigan Central Station at 10am, leaving the rest of the day to unhealthy things.
