Like a Sammy's Roumanian steak or Peter North, NYC can feel too large to take in at once, so the creators of MyBlock NYC enlisted local students and a handful of personalities (Opie of "& Anthony", Isaac Mizrahi, Jamel Shabazz…) to start collecting video footage from every street in the city, creating an interactive map that provides a look at the Apple through a prism of "diverse perspectives, viewpoints, and cultural histories", most of which apparently involve bums. What you'll find:
58th btwn 7th and Broadway: An old man crosses the street with such exceptionally white bushy eyebrows, the videographer can't help but compliment them.
W 25th btwn 10th and 11th: Mariachi band plays "Electric Feel" at a wedding, likely later revealing that they too met at Wesleyan while majoring in Post-Colonial Mexican Musical Genres/Veganism.
Walker btwn 6th and Church: Hot girl with hot legs walks down the street, construction workers busted for ogling. But more importantly, hot girl with hot legs.
W 30th btwn 6th and 7th: A befuddled man rests his beer on a police car, talks unintelligibly about Bryant Park, statues, and how much he loves "Sapporrooooo"!
South St Viaduct: The crowd at a Mad Decent block party gathers around breakdancing "Grandma Tracy" as she pops and locks to "White Lines", also an apt description of the crowd that gathers outside of Sammy's.
