San Diego has spirits... and a festival celebrating them

The 6th Annual San Diego Spirits Festival is back again from 2-6pm on August 23rd, and 2-5pm on the 24th. Head to the Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier to catch the flair bartending competition and watch bartenders battle it out, all while trying unlimited samples of food and cocktails.

Saturday, August 23rd: Mira Mesa Festival of Beers is going on at the Mira Mesa Community Park form 1-5pm. Get ready for live music, food trucks, and 50 brews from over 22 brewers. Sunday, August 24th: Café 222 Downtown is celebrating their 22nd anniversary and National Waffle Day by offering $2.22 waffles for the first 2 hours and 22 minutes of business from 7am until 9:22am. See what they did there?

Sunday, August 24th: For one day only, Bruxie is offering a BBQ pork belly banh mi waffle sandwich in honor of National Waffle Day. Made with roasted pork belly, spiced cola BBQ sauce, pickled veggies, and fresh cilantro in a waffle, it will be available from 10am until they run out.

Spike Africa’s

Monday, August 25th: Every Monday from 3:30-6:30pm, Spike Africa’s will have Monday Madness during happy hour where guests at the bar will receive complimentary chef-selected bites like loaded baked potato wedges with bacon and blue cheese or jalapeños and cheddar.

Tuesday, August 26th: The Patio on Goldfinch and Montalvo Tequila are hosting a five-course dinner starting at 5:30pm. Each of the five courses -- like Anejo and Montalvo-braised barbacoa nopal with jalapeño creamy polenta and confit Jidori chicken with spicy chicharrón -- include a culinary twist on the prickly pear cactus (nopal) and come served with a tequila cocktail.
