Epic Mario It's hard to get to this level

It's finally time to cash out your Israel bonds and give the dough to Epic Mario, a Kickstarter project from a NW dude obsessed with both LEGOs and Super Mario, and aiming to recreate level 1-1 using the very same things you used to have to go to the hospital to get removed from your nose. Contributors get everything from their own mini-mosaic featuring Toad (okay!) or Princess (boooo!), to one full panel from the finished project after its 12-month exhibition tour, during which all this fame will likely leave Mario with a big head. And, assuming he finds a mushroom, body too.

Want to know more? No? Too bad:

  • The artist claims the project will take him 200-300hrs to complete, and that, in his lifetime, he's probably played Super Mario Bros 500-600 times, though hopefully when he said "in his lifetime", he actually meant "last weekend".
  • 780000 LEGOs will be used to make the six-by-90-foot mosaic.
  • Expect a variety of Marios making their way through the level in various mushroom-enabled sizes, plus dead enemies, fireworks at the flagpole, and, despite not being constructed by the Seahawks' offensive line, mad broken blocks.
  • That sneaky artist is refusing to say whether the work will also include the super-secret coin room, though if he gets enough coin from the Kickstarter, pretty much everyone nose he'll end up doing it.
