Thrillist MiamiIt's the shopper's dream to cut out the middleman and go right to the source. No wait, the dream is to go to the source, and find out there's also free alcohol and, like, chicks. Live the dream, at Thread Show.
Thread's an open-to-the-public fashion trade show/party where you'll be able to buy fresh menswear at wholesale, snag free Asahi and Absolut from 4-9pm, and watch a full-on (ladies) runway show, all while bobbing noggin to DJs Ryan Evans and Black Jesus (the Second Coming can be found on MySpace). Gear from local brands includes Cardiac Design's science-inspired tees with anatomical hearts and swordfish skulls; Logan Real's custom-painted Nikes, Adidas, and Pumas (think clowns vs stained glass windows); and FunkU2's tees featuring pinup hotties straddling tape cassettes, or cartoon imps beating each other senseless, as imps are so wont to do. National brands like Kid Robot, Nike, and Kangol will also be on hand, as well as faraway smaller designers like Cali's Sprfkr, who explains his art nouveau-meets-gore-meets-smut style as " I am just a pervert and instead of hiding from it, I just go with it". You go, Sprfkr.
Afterwards, hit the on-site after-party with the likes of indie rock band Modnerage and DJ Johnny The Boy, whose clearly not yet a middleman, and so won't be cutting into any of your free booze.
