WTFLA

Unless you're talking about sex, it's notoriously hard to get twenty-somethings to pay attention long enough to learn about anything, from...hey. Hey you. Yo. Yo! Yeah, you. "Reading" this. Eyes. Here. Getting you to pay attention...through sex! Just kidding, booze, at WTFLA

WTFLA's an organization dedicated to young-people-oriented gratis wine tastings and classes about vino, all from a 20-something whose day job is running a company that instructs wine-makers on how to connect with younger people, a job Lawrence Taylor would (allegedly) be awesome at. That said, WTF's first event is a free May 18 mixer at High (the rooftop bar at Hotel Erwin), with complimentary pours of four wines, two each from Santa Barbara's Byron and Santa Maria's Cambria, with winemakers in attendance if you wanna ask 'em a question, or just awkwardly inquire as to where the Sierra Mist mixers are being kept. If you'd like to learn, WTF's first class is later in the month, covering topics like how the wines are made, how to judge what you're tasting, and "Terrible Wine Myths", like the one about why a wine being high in alcohol content doesn't make it a great wine (so, "Terrible Wine "Myths""?).

They'll have more gratis tastings and classes running all summer, so sign up on their mailing list at the link sex sex sex sex.
