Deviate from the way of the Shogun while still enjoying its food, at Oh Bento: a just-launched Pan-Asian trailer from the guy who, for 20yrs, has run the Slaughter Ln restaurant clearly named after the epic miniseries starring Richard Chamberlain based on the international bestseller by James Clavell.

Bento boxes are the main deal, and include a meat (from teriyaki beef, to breaded tonkatsu pork cutlet, to Korean-style beef short ribs), alongside rice and a pair of sides like kimchi or potato croquettes, aka "wicket-good fried food".

They're also rocking pan-fried gyoza, pork and beef buns smothered in the owner's hoisin BBQ sauce, udon bowls, and Hanson's favorite treat when they go on massive stadium tours through Asia, Korean bibimbap.

The menu's still changing daily, and in the next few weeks the owner's considering adding sushi, providing so much variety that you could eat there in true (miniseries) Shogun style: five nights in a row.
