Thanksgiving Leftover Recipes

The feast must carry on!

Like the hot B-movie actresses you fantasized about as a kid, Thanksgiving leftovers can get surprisingly old -- so we tapped some of Austin's culinary kings to perform a little kitchen plastic surgery and come up with easy-to-make post-Turkey Day dishes you'll actually be thankful for. Click the links for full recipes.

The Dirty Bird
From Roll On Sushi
Burnet Rd's new rice-rollers encourage you to stuff your mashers, green beans, and turkey in a soy wrapper and drizzle with gravy and warm cranberry sauce, with bonus points for tempura frying -- though if you own a deep fryer, that's all the bonus you need out of life.

Former Falcons running back Jamal "Dirty Bird" Anderson was not injured in the making of this recipe

Roasted Turkey Pot Pie
From The Roaring Fork
The Fork suggests stuffing a Pepperidge Farm puff pastry with holiday fowl and an assortment of veggies, then baking it until it just wants to sit on the couch and watch SVU...man, the way they're focusing on lower-ranking cops now is like latter-day Miami Vice! golden brown.

Don Johnson has personally endorsed the idea of you making this dish

Italian Potato Dumplings with Turkey and Broccoli Pesto
From Chef Gabriel Pellegrini at Sagra
It's not how you say potato, it's what you do with it, in this case combining it with eggs and flour to create gnocchi dough. If you're the sort of overachiever who used to do things like ask your teacher questions in class and after class and Jesus kid I'm a football coach I barely understand this chemistry crap myself, the chef has also included a simple recipe for broccoli pesto.

Even a football coach/chemistry teacher could make these dumplings

Yamshake
From Beef Eigler at Handshakes
The movers/shakers parked behind Cheer Up Charlies have contributed a super-easy dessert that involves nothing more than throwing yams, marshmallows, ice cream, and milk in a blender, creating a shake that will surely be better than yours, even if it fails to bring all the boys to the yard. Damn right.
