Thrillist ChicagoBecause even people who were never imprisoned at Shawshank can come to appreciate fresh fish, the folks at long-running seafood staple Fish Guy Market have tapped an ex-Boiler Room chef to prepare flown-in-daily goodness to be served at either their stainless steel counter, or in a cozy front dining area overlooked by wall-mounted barracuda and marlin.
Preparations are relatively simple and constantly change to best highlight prime catches, with updated classics including a half-pound brioche lobster roll held together with shrimp mousse and lemon herb aioli, cooked-to-order New England clam chowder, and minimalist oven-fired 'zas topped with everything from clams, to Balik salmon that's also covered in super-ugly hats cold smoked. Further freshness includes steamed live scallops in white wine, garlic & butter; a salad of lemon, apple, chives, and chervil served alongside a skate wing; and Maryland striped bass with roasted sunchokes, also a common occurrence Inside The NBA.
They plan to add a small selection of wine & beer upon getting a liquor license (BYOB'll be a permanent option), and to wrap it up there's ice cream-kicked Tortuga rum cake, which is hopefully worth it, unlike Ned's wife's pie.
