Founders, Bell's, Atwater, Short's, Valentine Vodka -- this list is either A) what you celebrated 'merica with yesterday, B) part of the awesome booze lineup at the upcoming Sip of Michigan event, or C) Tim Allen's grocery list, in its entirety. The answer is of course D) all of the above, but the relevant thing here is that second one, about the event.
Now in its third year, Sip of MI's exactly that: a July 13th, Rattlesnake-hosted, ultra-selective sampling of the state's best beers, wines, and liquors, which, like a person who hates menages a trois, you can enjoy two ways:
A five-course VIP dinner (you fancy huh!) will kick things off for those with deep(ish) enough pockets. Sink your teeth into plates like a spicy chile & fig-scented heirloom Michigan pork belly with pickled watermelon, and a coffee-/cocoa-rubbed NY strip topped with buttermilk-/beer-battered onion rings, all paired with your choice of 2 Lads wines, New Holland Spirits cocktails, or Dark Horse brews, which ironically, are sort of the obvious option for many of these courses.
For those that don't consider themselves VI, the main event runs 8p-12a, and'll feature some lower-key food pairings (expect risotto, mini sandwiches, etc.), live band karaoke (with Double Take!), and local liquids from the likes of Jolly Pumpkin, Arcadia Ales, Chateau de Leelanau, Ugly Dog Vodka, and many, many more. And while they can't technically serve "unlimited" booze, the price of admission gets you 35 drink tickets, so you should be more than fine. Unless you're Tim Allen, in his entirety.
