Because a dinner reservation in the Hamptons can be harder to come by than a respectable leading role for Alec Baldwin, Dan's Papers has brought all the restos you couldn't get a table at on Saturday night to one place for this first-annual food & wine event celebrating vittles and vineyards from both Forks. Here's the rub:

The Food: Hosted by Marcus Samuelsson and Rosanna Scotto (due either to her family ties to cooking, or her far less lascivious view on poultry than Ernie Anastos), over 40 local spots will be dishing out small-plate tastings of Truffle Salmon Tartare (Georgica), house-smoked pastrami with bread & butter pickles (Almond), yellow tomato gazpacho w/ watermelon and yellowtail (Blue Parrot), and, from LT Burger, slaw-accompanied Backyard Sliders, also what The Toadies call live performances of their '94 smash hit.

The Wine: Not to be outdone by their comestible counterparts, 20+ vineyards will be displaying their prowess with respected chateaus like Duck Walk, Wölffer Estate, and Channing Daughters setting up next to bubbly purveyor Sparkling Pointe, Merlot purveyor the Long Island Merlot Alliance, and the Long Island Meadery, who specialize in the Nectar of the Gottis.

A portion of the proceeds go to support East End food pantries, slightly lessening the blow should you elect to spring for a VIP package ticket, which lands you entrance to a Champagne reception and after-party at Georgica, where you can rub elbows with chefs, celebrities, and probably Alec Baldwin, as when it comes to free food and booze in the Hamptons, he's never one of The Departed.
