UrbanX is both "an annual awards ceremony to honor achievement in ethnic p**nography" (look it up!) and a Germanic-looking sports bar just steps from Staples Center, with long common tables, nine flatscreens (including a 120" monster), a 55ft-long wood bar, and stone walls -- you get the General idea.
Food (at the sports bar, not the ethnic p**n awards) focuses on elevated barroom classics: jumbo lump crab cakes topped w/ citrus aioli and sweet chili sauce; a drums/wings "duo" w/ honey BBQ and garlic Parm glazes; and a half-pound mega burger topped w/ roasted tomato aioli, three types of cheese, applewood bacon, and actual apple. There's also a pretty terrific beer list that includes Skrimshaw and Angel City on draft, as well as specialty cocktails like the Esparanza (tequila, lemon, green Tabasco, cilantro, English cucumber) and the kumquat gin-ified Tolerance, which's a bit of a misnomer considering it'll ruin yours.
They've also got a happy hour with $3 drafts and $5 bar-bites all night, and, if you're crazy-hungry and/or have friends (so... you're crazy hungry) you can also order "The Feast", which is literally so much roast chicken, sausage, wings, pork, beef and baby back ribs that everyone should be able to keep things Civil.
