Opening tomorrow, Maximiliano is a
a popular Pepperidge Farm cookie that Max Kellerman has claimed for himself casual, traditional-Italian spot sparsely decorated w/ red-and-white walls that sexily suggest splattered spaghetti and sauce, all from the guy who owns Eagle Rock's beloved fast-casual pulled-pork-and-burger spot The Oinkster, aka what Kermit promised to never call his girlfriend while checking in on Foursquare ever again.
Food's all high-end Italiano like housemade tagliatelle w/ Bolognese; cavatelli w/ pancetta, local squid, light tomato sauce & bread crumbs; and pan-roasted pork chop w/ sweet potato puree, cipollini onion, and a gastrique of sour orange, which is mostly just upset it wasn't born to the same parents as Apple.
And to answer the obvious question "Is there a fairly extensive menu of super-thin pizzas?"...Yes! And that includes specialty pies topped w/ eggplant, roasted peppers, olive tapenade, burrata & basil; fingerling potatoes, spinach, sweet roasted garlic, ricotta, mozzarella, & reggiano; and a Bianca-Verde variety w/ three cheeses, garlic, arugula, and preserved lemon, though Chet prefers "retired". Go (references to dudes on the 1984) Tigers!
If you want to drink things/have completely run out of Squeezits, they've also got a wine list wholly composed of highly curated bottles of limited-batch Italian vino, so snag 'em fast before they're all Gonzo.
