Hittin' the streets this weekend, Pineapple Express is a new mobile eatery from a two-dude team that includes a former Lakers chef (!!!) who cooked for the purple-and-gold for the last eight years, plus some other guy who (boooooring alert) won a James Beard award, competed on Iron Chef, and essentially invented Pacific Rim cuisine.
The truck'll dole out hula-rific bites like a kalua pork sandwich w/ banana-leaf-wrapped meat that's been slow-cooked for 12hrs; a grilled chicken sammie topped w/ gingered pineapple; and a braised Wagyu beef number topped with marmalade and a sauce he's calling "Da Kine", or what Arnold Schwarzenegger says when trying to point out exactly what kind of ice cream flavor he wants. Fish'll come poke-ified according to what's fresh (tuna, salmon, Arctic char, etc.), with preparations including over rice, in wraps, on a salad, and even as the stuffing of a slider, or what you witnessed when Jerry O' Connell mistakenly slid into an episode of Oz.
They're launching on Sunday with a party in Santa Monica, where they'll be teaching you how to make poke, and ShoreBAR'll be dropping some boozed-up punch, which you'll (anti-boooooring alert) drink.
