Like Romano in an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, there's literally a 100% chance that you're eventually going to find yourself in The Dog House. Why? Because St. Paul's newest wienery is also its most creative, being run by a State Fair pickle dog-slinging vet of 24yrs, and his son.
While the space itself isn't that sexy (it's a cafeteria-esque red and green booth in the Alliance Bank skyway), the dozen "gourmet hot dogs" (all of which you can "up dog" and substitute with a spicy sausage) more than make up for it, with highlights like:
Pickle Dog: The one that started everything (well, not technically everything, but certainly this dude's hot dog career), this guy's gluttonously wrapped with pastrami and cream cheese.
Taco Dog: This Nathan's all-beefer's topped with lettuce, taco sauce, sour cream, and Doritos, which gives its eater the perfect opportunity to tell scavenging friends, "Nachos, dog!"
Slaw Dog: Smothered with chili and coleslaw, this one shares its name with a movie remake where vicious roofers attack Kate Bosworth with mad condiments.
Mac Dog: Get this joint before Congress hears about its combo of mac, cheese, bacon, and pork, and immediately makes the thing illegal.
Oh, and also, because why not, this place blends fresh fruit smoothies, just in case your girl walks by and you need to pretend to be dieting, as every wife loves shamin'.
