Deep-Fried Kool-Aid Balls
Exactly

New York

Finding something in an unexpected place is exciting, unless you're in The Crying Game, in which case it's flat-out nauseating when you discover…the IRA cohort you thought was dead is alive, and wants to kill you! Oh yeah, and your girlfriend has a penis. Behold an unexpectedly awesome treat from a vegan bake shop: Deep-Fried Kool-Aid Balls at Cowgirl's Baking.

This most triumphant, State-Fair-approved, deep-fried sugar bomb's found a brick-and-mortar NYC home thanks to the Cowgirl's Baking owner's tireless efforts to stay on top of the sweets scene, which ironically doesn't involve as much powder as staying on top of other scenes. After discovering the snack at a fair, she decided to concoct her own, taking whatever the vegan versions of flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and Kool-Aid powder are, mixing them all together, dropping the result in a deep fryer, and finishing it off with another coat of K-A pow & sugar for a gooey, donut-hole-esque glaze. While the inaugural batches have been mostly tropical punch and strawberry, she's happy to take flavor requests (Sharkleberry Fin to the dome!), and plans to experiment with flavors such as orange, "blue", and even iced tea, which hopefully you won't have to wait oolong to try.

If for some crazy reason that ain't enough, then nab some cookies, pies, cupcakes, or savory burritos and sandos, which include the "turkey", "cheese", and "vegannaise" XXX, which mercifully The Crying Game was not.
